Earlier on this week I made the shocking admission on Twitter that I didn’t own a single Benefit product. Not one. Cue disgust and disbelief from some of my beauty blogger friends. ‘Are you serious?’ exclaimed Niamh.
I have always admired Benefit products from afar but truth be told I found their branding and products a little overwhelming, maybe even a little intimidating. They sell products I haven’t even dreamt of using on my face. I’m not a beauty guru or makeup aficiando. I like what I like and tend to stick with the same products over time. I’m all about foundation, mascara and lipstick and I don’t bother with false eyelashes, tints or brow enhancers – or ‘fancy’ products as I call them!
However, the reason I was prompted to admit my lack of Benefit experience was because I had been invited to a rather intriguing Benefit event in Belfast. It was all quite hush hush. I was told they were launching a new product but that’s about it. Much to my delight the said event took place on a fully kitted out Benefit Bus! Think 1950s American Hair Salon and you’ll get the gist. Benefit certainly know how to do good girly fun!
I got an in-depth introduction to their brand new mascara offering – the ‘Roller Lash’ mascara. If you want your eyelashes to be lusciously curvy looking then this is the product for you. I chucked out my ‘old’ mascara and have happily replaced it with this little Benefit beauty. I’ve been wearing the mascara to work without any eyeshadow (sometimes I just don’t have the time in the mornings) and I feel totally wide-eyed and ‘put together’ with it on. I like that the mascara has been designed to enhance the top lashes as well as the lower lashes. And no need to bother with the eyelash curlers with this mascara! Benefit’s patent pending Hook ‘n’ Roll brush is all about giving your lashes a lift and lasting curl.
My first Benefit product and I really really like it! The Roller Lash will be available to buy in March 2015.
Next up we were introduced to the ‘Puff Off’ – another new offering from Benefit. Now if there’s one thing I do know about Benefit is their wonderfully imaginative names for their products. The Puff Off is an eye gel designed to eliminate puffy under-eyes and smooth out wrinkles. The application tip is in the shape of an ironing board! I can see why so many people fall hook, line, and sinker for Benefit products. ALOT of effort is put into making the products colourful, cutesy and a little quirky.
The Puff Off is not a product I would choose to buy as rather than puffy under-eyes I suffer from dark circles under my eyes, however I do have a few fine lines which I’m happy to have covered up. You can put this product on underneath or over makeup which is pretty handy. It goes on like a fine silky moisturiser and then dries like a concealer. I didn’t notice any positive difference to my undereyes so it probably won’t be a product I’ll purchase myself. But like I say, it’s not a product best suited to me.
Are you a Benefit fan? Will you be making a purchase or two?
