I thought I would show you around the master bedroom at Willow Lane HQ. Many of you will be familiar with my dressing room area as that’s where a lot of my photos are taken and videos filmed. It’s a very feminine space but the master bedroom is quite different. There is a lot of dark wood and the feature wall is a beautiful burnt orange colour. I’ve said before that we gravitate more to dark evocative colours in our home. Our new kitchen has dark navy blue walls, our hallway a raspberry red and our bathroom has dark grey tiles.
This is the first room we decorated when we moved in four and a half years ago. I love it as much now as when we first redecorated. In the months leading up to the house move a friend of mine’s parents were downsizing and selling their guest room furniture. As soon as I set eyes on the gorgeous dark wood units with leather inserts and the king size bed I was in love. Happily everything fitted beautifully into our master bedroom and I even had space to put a vintage bedroom chair. The room is carpeted and we have big thick long curtains which all adds to the cosiness of the bedroom.
My Orla Kiely bedcovers (bought in TK Maxx earlier this year) add a brightness to the room and there are plenty of little trinkets and photos about to give the room added personality and interest. Down the line when we may have a few kiddies I can see us getting rid of the free standing wardrobe and getting sliding wardrobes. Currently only Phill’s clothing is kept in the master bedroom as I’m fortunate to have a built in sliding wardrobe in the dressing room for all my clothes and shoes.
I bought this little side table for Phill in TK Maxx a few years ago as our bedroom furniture only came with one bedside table.
This vintage bedroom chair used to belong to the mother of one of my mum’s friends. I’ve given it a modern look with a quirky cushion from TK Maxx.
I have a few elephant ornaments in my home and this beautiful trio were bought in Next a few years back.
