The BBC Good Food Show came to Northern Ireland for the first time this month and I made sure to attend. The show took place at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I went along on the Friday and Saturday and enjoyed both days immensely. There was a fantastic lineup of celebrity chefs and a huge number of local Northern Irish producers exhibiting.
I made it a family affair and vlogged my visit so check out my video for a true taster of the big foodie event. And please subscribe to my Youtube channel if you don’t already!
Day 1 Highlights
I took my Mum along on the Friday and we had a great time sampling all the wonderful food from local producers in the vast tasting rooms. There were tons of exhibitors with very tempting food and drink offerings. As well as free samples, most of the exhibitors had produce to purchase. I bought artisan sausage rolls from Pig in the Middle, cheese from Blacks Cheese, marshmallow popcorn from Propercorn and amazing brownies and muffins from Homemade by Mann.
Mum and I purchased tickets to see Paul Hollywood in the Supertheatre. I’m a big fan of The Great British Bake Off so was very excited to see Paul at work on stage! He was great fun and baked bread and an apple pie on stage. He was on stage three times throughout the day and did a couple of book signings too.
Day 2 Highlights
On Saturday, I went to the event with Phill and the baby. I had seen tons of mum’s and dad’s with little ones on Friday so I felt confident bringing Rose with us. I knew it would be super busy so we decided to bring her in a baby carrier rather than a pram. That was definitely a smart decision. Saturday was jam packed with people and it would have been incredibly difficult to navigate a pram in the crowds.
I spent even more on food on the Saturday. I repurchased more sausage rolls (they were incredibly yummy), some Ballymaloe relish, Mash Direct products, Barry John’s beef sausages and sweet treats from Camran Mallows and Tasty Wee Numbers.
We were lucky enough to see The Hairy Bikers Si and Dave in the Supertheatre and, as you would expect, they were very entertaining on stage. Before we knew it, it was time to head home. Of course, we had some great food to eat for dinner and dessert!
Disclosure: I received press pass tickets to the BBC Good Food Show and did not pay for entry into the event on Friday or Saturday. I purchased supertheatre tickets myself.
